You’ll be in good company

Meet the Team

You have a problem. No worries.

Let’s activate your superpowers.

Your challenges are both unique and timeless. Your business context makes them unique. But if you hum a few bars, you’ll find a familiar tune. There are patterns that can be applied, along with the latest process and technology, to help you make rapid progress. With the right guide, you’ll do even better. Go fast. Lower risk. Increase reward.

Whether you’re just getting started or are ready to accelerate your growth, I’ve likely walked in your shoes. Across job roles, from founder to the corporate executive suite, from starting my own software company to giants like IBM, I’ve seen all manner of business, technology, and organizational function and dysfunction. I can help you discover and activate your organization’s superpowers.

  • Any problem you can identify, that thing that’s keeping you up at night, may not be the real problem. If you expand the context, question your assumptions, look at disruptive forces you’ll begin to hone in on what’s really going on. That’s the thing you need to solve.

  • Instead of betting the ranch on a big solution that will take a long time to implement, let’s break your solution down into testable elements that you can use to demonstrate, to yourself and stakeholders, that you’re on the right track. Or not. Then you adjust. Lower risk. Increase reward.

  • Those small prototypes and the results they deliver allow you to get data early to allow you to zero in on the right move. Once you’ve got the data, go fast! You’ll have the information required to justify your actions and your budget request. You’ll have the confidence to know you can deliver.

What’s it like to work with me?

“This guy’s walking down the street when he falls in a hole. The walls are so steep he can’t get out.

“A doctor passes by and the guy shouts up, ‘Hey you. Can you help me out?’ The doctor writes a prescription, throws it down in the hole and moves on.

“Then a priest comes along and the guy shouts up, ‘Father, I’m down in this hole can you help me out?’ The priest writes out a prayer, throws it down in the hole and moves on

“Then a friend walks by, ‘Hey, Joe, it’s me can you help me out?’ And the friend jumps in the hole.
Our guy says, ‘Are you stupid? Now we’re both down here.’

The friend says, ‘Yeah, but I’ve been down here before and I know the way out.'”

Aaron Sorkin, The West Wing, S:2, E:10

Who am I?

What really drives me is the opportunity to explore new business challenges, develop innovative solutions (or apply boring old ones if they’re effective), and generate incremental value for people like you. Whether I’m working with a large enterprise. growth, or am early-stage company, this entrepreneurial process is what I’ve found effective again and again.

  • My first entrepreneurial experience was right out of high school. My pals went off to college. I built a small publishing company. It ended poorly. But that building bug, the desire to explore, create, and transform never left me. Whether it’s working in startups or large tech behemoths, building new things or rebuilding from what exists is what I’m wired to do.

  • Business is not an act of fantastical visioneering. What ever you design has to work. For the people who run it. For the customers who use it. For the stakeholders and investors who expect a return. A deep pragmatism must be the foundation of strategic design and an element of daily decision making.

  • Someone said to me at the beginning of my entrepreneurial journey “The first million of revenue is the easiest”. It sounded crazy. They were right. It’s the next million that’s a problem. And the million after that.
How do you break out? How do you cross the chasm? I have valuable knowledge learned in the crucible that you’re in, right now.
